Eskom announces load shedding schedule for the week

Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 today.

Stage 4 will continue until Tuesday morning at 5:00.

After that, load shedding will be reduced to stage 3 until 16:00, with stage 4 then being implemented until 5:00 am on Wednesday.

The pattern of stage 3 and stage 4 will continue until further notice.

Eskom said that a generating unit each at Camden, Duvha and Majuba and two other units at Kriel broke down and were taken offline for repairs in the last 24 hours.

In addition, the return to service of generating unit each at Hendrina, Medupdi and Tutuka were delayed.

Eskom added that repairs to damaged towers at Cahora Bassa is taking longer than anticipated.

In positive news, a generating unit each at Duvha and Kriel power stations were returned to service.

Breakdowns totalled 17,340MW of generating capacity, while 5,654 MW of generating capacity was out for planned maintenance.

Sunday, 5 March

  • Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00
  • Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00

Monday, 6 March

  • Stage 4: 00h00 to 24h00

Tuesday, 7 March 

  • Stage 4: 00h00 to 05hoo
  • Stage 3: 05hoo to 16h00
  • Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00

Wednesday, 8 March 

  • Stage 4: 00hoo to 05h00
