Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is scheduled to visit the Maseru Bridge Port of Entry today to monitor the implementation of the 2022/23 Border Law Enforcement Festive Plan as travellers return to the country.
The Maseru Bridge is between South Africa and Lesotho. Traveller movements into South Africa have increased over the past two days as South Africans return home and migrants return to their stations.
Minister Motsoaledi will be joined by the Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Mike Masiapato.
The Minister will also pay a courtesy call to his Lesotho counterpart, Honourable Minister Lebona Lephema.
The Border Law Enforcement Festive Plan was implemented on 07 December 2022 to fast track the orderly processing of travellers and trucks through the border in this busy festive season and, where necessary, to speedily resolve challenges that may arise.
According to Home Affairs, this is the first festive season in three years that has limited COVID-19 restrictions. – SAnews.gov.za
