Three teachers in the Alfred Nzo district have been suspended in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.

The education department in the Eastern Cape has suspended three teachers from the Alfred Nzo district for alleged sexual misconduct.

The department suspended the teachers following an investigation into the allegations.

"A team of psycho-social support has been activated and started counselling and debriefing these learners last week, as one of them left school and attempted suicide," the department said. 

It said the provincial and district offices offered support to prevent loss of life due to this incident. The investigation continues.
